Today offers a relaxed exploration of Darwin’s rich history, fascinating culture, and natural beauty, ensuring a comfortable pace with ample time to enjoy each experience.

Our day will begin at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory (MAGNT).
We’ll take our time to explore the compelling Cyclone Tracy exhibition, a powerful recount of this significant event in Darwin’s history, and admire the diverse collections of Aboriginal art, natural sciences, and maritime history.

Next, we’ll visit the Darwin Military Museum, delving into the city’s significant role during World War II.

For lunch, we’ll head to either the picturesque Cullen Bay Marina or the bustling Darwin Waterfront precinct. Both offer a delightful selection of cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy a relaxed meal with scenic views, perhaps by the water, soaking in the tropical atmosphere.

In the afternoon, we visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service Visitor Centre, where engaging displays highlight their crucial role in connecting remote communities and share the inspiring stories behind this essential outback lifeline.

As the day draws to a close, we’ll make our way to the famous Mindil Beach Sunset Market. Here, you can immerse yourself in the lively, yet comfortable atmosphere, browse unique stalls, and sample an incredible

Our first stop is the iconic Ubirr, where a guided tour of some of Australia’s most extraordinary Aboriginal rock art reveals thousands of years of Aboriginal history and storytelling etched into the stone.

The afternoon brings a truly unique cultural experience with the Guluyambi Cultural Cruise. As we glide along the waterways, a local Indigenous guide will share fascinating insights into their ancient culture and the land, all while offering thrilling opportunities for crocodile spotting!

Today promises an extraordinary adventure as we venture into the captivating and culturally rich Arnhem Land. With restricted access, this allows us to experience an truly exclusive insight into one of Australia’s most significant Indigenous regions.

Our day will be dedicated to exploring incredible rock art sites, some rarely seen by outsiders, offering profound insights into the ancient stories and traditions of the local Indigenous people. We’ll also discover pristine lookouts offering breathtaking panoramic views of Arnhem Land’s untouched wilderness.

A true highlight of the day is our exclusive access to an Indigenous community, providing a unique opportunity to engage with local artists and learn about their contemporary lives and deep connection to country. Today we continue our immersion in the wonders of Kakadu National Park, with an optional start that offers a truly unique perspective.

For those seeking an unforgettable aerial view, an optional morning scenic flight (from $159pp) provides a breathtaking panorama of Kakadu’s vast landscapes, ancient escarpments, and winding waterways – a truly
spectacular way to appreciate the sheer scale of the park.

Our first stop is the Burrungkuy Cultural Site, where we delve back into the park’s rich history, enjoying a scenic bushwalk that uncovers ancient rock art and important cultural stories. From here, we’ll make our way to the Kunwhardewharde Lookout, offering stunning views over the dramatic Kakadu landscape.

Later in the day, we’ll visit Anbangbang Billabong for some relaxed wildlife spotting, keeping an eye out for diverse birdlife and perhaps even a crocodile or two in their natural habitat. To further deepen our
understanding of the local Bininj/Mungguy culture, we’ll explore the Warradjan Cultural Centre, gaining valuable insights into their traditions, stories, and connection to country.

Our day culminates with the iconic Yellow Water Billabong Cruise, a truly magical experience. As we gently glide through the tranquil waters, we’ll witness an incredible array of birdlife, estuarine crocodiles, and the stunning wetland environment come alive, especially as the late afternoon light bathes the landscape in a golden glow. It’s the perfect end to another incredible day in Kakadu.

Leaving Kakadu behind, today we journey south into the diverse Katherine region, a land rich in history and natural beauty.

Our first stop is the beautiful Edith Falls (Leliyn) in Nitmiluk National Park. Nestled among sandstone cliffs and pandanus palms, this picturesque spot offers the chance to take a refreshing swim in the crystal-clear plunge pool or enjoy a scenic bush walk for panoramic views of the falls and
surrounding wilderness.

Our day culminates with the highlight of the Katherine region: the magnificent Katherine Gorge Cruise (Nitmiluk Gorge). As we glide through the ancient, towering sandstone cliffs, you’ll be mesmerized by the sheer scale and beauty of the gorge, learning about its geological formations and the cultural significance to the Jawoyn people. It’s an unforgettable experience that truly showcases the grandeur of the Northern Territory.

Start the day with a dip in the rejuvenating thermal pools of Katherine Hot springs. These natural thermal pools offer a relaxing and rejuvenating soak in warm, mineral-rich waters – a perfect way to ease into the afternoon.

Continuing north, we visit the historic gold mining town of Pine Creek, where tales of the 19th-century gold rush come to life. Explore remnants of this fascinating era and gain insight into the pioneering spirit that shaped the region.

Our journey then takes us to the historic town of Adelaide River. This town played a significant role during World War II, and you’ll have the opportunity to learn about its fascinating past. Keep an eye out for a very special resident – you might even meet “Charlie the Buffalo” (or his descendant!), famously known from the movie Crocodile Dundee, adding a touch of cinematic charm to our day.

As the day draws to a close, we head to our accommodation within the Litchfield region, ready for further exploration tomorrow.

Our final day is dedicated to exploring the stunning natural beauty of Litchfield National Park, a true gem of the Top End, before we make our way back to Darwin.

To begin, we encounter one of the Territory’s most intriguing natural phenomena: the giant and magnetic termite mounds. Marvel at these towering, architecturally unique structures, some standing over two
meters high, built with incredible precision by tiny engineers.

Next, we visit the magnificent Florence Falls, a spectacular double cascade nestled deep within lush monsoon forest. Take in the breathtaking views from the lookout, offering a perfect vantage point to admire this serene natural wonder.

For a chance to cool off and enjoy nature’s swimming pools, we visit the beautiful Buley Rockholes. Here, you can relax in a series of cascading rock pools and gentle waterfalls, perfect for a refreshing dip amidst the stunning Litchfield National Park scenery.

Continuing our exploration of Litchfield, we head to the iconic Wangi Falls. Here, you can enjoy a delightful swim in the large, inviting plunge pool or take a leisurely stroll along the boardwalk through the surrounding rainforest, admiring the twin waterfalls.

As our incredible Northern Territory adventure draws to a close, we’ll make a final stop at the Berry Springs Outback Tavern. This classic outback pub offers a chance to experience a true local atmosphere, perhaps enjoying a refreshing drink before we complete our journey back to Darwin, filled with unforgettable memories of waterfalls, wildlife, and the unique Top End landscape.
