Beginning on the cacti-lined boulevards of Phoenix, Arizona - Valley of the Sun, we will immerse ourselves in the art and culture of Navajo Nation and see the Native American art on display at The Heard Museum. Onto Scottsdale for a cinematic gallop through the history of the Wild West, then Taliesen West for an architectural appointment with Frank Lloyd Wright’s winter residence.
Our journey continues with a two-day road trip from Arizona to New Mexico enjoying spectacular colours of the vibrant red mountains of Sedona. Overnight at Grand Canyon National Park, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, then experience rich Native American culture along historic Route 66; Flagstaff, Gallup, Albuquerque and Santa Fe.
In Santa Fe, we begin our Georgia O’Keeffe pilgrimage; the GOK Museum, a visit to Abiquiu, Ghost Ranch and Taos. Experience first-hand the landscapes of New Mexico that inspired her powerful paintings.
Our visit to Santa Fe is timed to coincide with two outstanding cultural events: ART Santa Fe, a 4-day exhibition of US and International contemporary art, and International Folk Art Market, an international bazaar of the finest handmade craft by 160 master artists from 53 different countries.
